The Krum Band began in 1991 with a partnership between the University of North Texas and Krum ISD.  Dr. Roger Warner, former Dean of Music and Carol Turner, UNT Teaching Fellow, started the program with 50 students in grades 7 and 8. which has since grown to over 300 students 6-12. With 6 State Honor Band Finalist titles (4 time State Runner-up), an award winning Jazz program, Steel Drum Band and the tremendous support of parents and community, the Krum Band is able to bringing the highest level of music education to its students. In 2015, the HS Band had 101 students qualify to compete at the State UIL Contest. The HS Wind Ensemble was recognized as the National Wind Band Honors Runner-up in 2007 and 2011 and National Winner in 2008 and 2009.  In 2014 the KHS Band was selected to perform in the National Youth Concert.  In 2016 the Krum Marching Blue Brigade marched in the Area Marching Contest Finals for the first time in the history of the school.  In 2018 and 2019 the Blue Brigade competed at the Bands of America DFW Regional Contest winning their classification and all performance captions.
