Class of 2025,

If you are applying to a four-year university, please note that many applications for the fall 2024 semester will open in July 2024. It is important you look at the deadlines and application requirements. Almost all Texas school uses https://www.applytexas.org/ for their applications.

The most common items required for applying include:

-Application: Most Texas schools use https://prod.applytexas.org/ Be sure to create an account and save all username and password information.

-Essay: Spend time on your essay. Have someone proof and help edit before submitting.

-Transcript: A six semester official transcript will be required. Transcript Request must be completed online.

-Test Scores: An ACT and/or SAT score will need to be provided. If you had your score sent when you tested, the university should have it on file. If you did not you will need to request to have the score sent from the ACT or SAT website.

-Payment

Class of 2026 and 2027,

Entrance exams are a key component in applying to colleges and universities. Many schools have testing optional criteria that is unique to each school you are interested in.  Please do your research to be informed on the impact an ACT or SAT score has on scholarships and admissions for you.  Schools will accept the SAT and/or ACT test scores when applying. It is imperative you begin the following (if you have not already done so):

-Practice
-Schedule
-Take the Test

SAT

The SAT is comprised of 3 sections: reading, English and language, and math. Click SAT to access the SAT website. All juniors took the PSAT last school year. With this you gained access to FREE SAT practice. Click Khan Academy to access the practice.

ACT

The ACT is comprised of 4 required and 1 optional section: English, math, reading, science, and writing (optional). Click ACT to access the ACT website. A FREE ACT practice tool is the ACT Academy.
